Mary Jo Buttafuoco signs copies of her new book Getting It Through My Thick Skull ('Why I Stayed, What I Learned And What Millions Of People Involved With Sociopaths Need To Know') at Costco in Simi Valley. Mary Jo Buttafuoco's anonymous life as a suburban wife and mother in Long Island (NY) ended in May 1992, when she was shot in the head on her own front porch in Massapequa by her husband Joey Buttafuoco's underage lover, Amy Fisher. The 'Long Island Lolita' saga was followed intensely by the media and as Mary Jo stood by her man, the name Buttafuoco became a national punchline. Mary Jo explains in the book that Joey was a sociopath. She suffered from ear damage and facial paralysis after the shooting and has since had reconstructive surgery.
