New York prankster Mark Malkoff set out to disprove the 'myth' that the city is unfriendly by attempting to transport himself from the southern tip of Manhattan to the north solely by being carried by strangers on December 18, 2009. Mark, 34, asked strangers to lift his ten stone body and carry him as far as they could. He ended up being humped 9.4 miles from the entrance of the Staten Island Ferry to 141st St & Broadway by 155 different people of all ages and nationalities. I had everyone from schoolgirls to pensioners carrying me, said Mark, a comedian from Queens. Whoever says New York is unfriendly is wrong.
