Katie Couric was honored by the University of Chicago Cancer Research Center this evening at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago for her tireless work in cancer research and awareness. Her husband, Jay Monahan, died 12 years ago from colon cancer; her sister Emily did from a form of cancer also. Much of Katie's charitable work (including her founding the Entertainment Industry Foundation's National Colorectal Research Alliance in 2000 and helping to launch The Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in 2004) is inspired by them. She is seen here posing for pictures on November 14, 2009 in Chicago, IL before the start of the ceremony. Fame Pictures, Inc
